The Scottish Tourist Guides Association is very pleased to announce that one of our members Rosalind Newlands was mentioned in The Queens Birthday Honours List of 12 June 2010.
Rosalind Newlands has been awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) medal for services to tourism.
Rosalind has more than 27 years experience as a tourist guide, tourist guide trainer and tourism management consultant, and is currently the Course Director for the University of Edinburgh for the Blue Badge Training Course in Scotland, a position that she has held for 20 years.
Her passion for the importance of tourist guide skills and training and the effect of tourist guides on visitor experience has crossed the continents of the world. Rosalind is now in her second term as President of The World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations, where she actively promotes the aims and objectives of the organisation, which has members in 54 countries around the world.
