STGA Blue Badge Guides are listed according to the geographical area where their business is based. Remember that all STGA Blue Badge Guides are qualified to guide throughout the whole of Scotland. These listing areas are loosely based on the Consumer Areas adopted by VisitScotland.
The accreditation of tourist guiding in England, Wales and Northen Ireland is under the remit of the Institute of Tourist Guiding based in London. The Institute has an extensive membership of qualified Blue Badge guides working in their area and a comprehensive guide listing on their website at www.itg.org.uk

Language Guides
These Guides are qualified to guide throughout Scotland, and have been assessed by the STGA as competent to guide in the languages shown. Where the language is shown in bold and italic, the guide is a native speaker. A list of the languages offered and details of all the guides able to guide in each of these languages can be found on our 'languages' page.
Driver Guides
These guides conduct tours throughout Scotland in their own vehicles. It is a legal requirement that they have appropriate insurance to cover driver guiding; the vehicle will normally be insured for Private Hire or Hire and Reward use. The Guides listed below have provided the STGA with evidence that they have such insurance coverage.
The Guides listed below are generally willing to hire a larger vehicle if required and may be able to insure other-sized vehicles (carrying up to eight passengers) on their own personal Private Hire or Hire and Reward insurance.
OClients should satisfy themselves that current appropriate vehicle insurance is in place and should request that the guide provide documentary evidence of this when booking, or before the start of the tour.
The STGA does not accept any responsibility for interpretation of the insurance requirements covering a Driver Guide's services.
NB: A full category D1 (or D) Passenger-Carrying Vehicle (PCV) Licence is required to drive vehicles that can carry more than eight passengers for hire and reward. A full category D1 PCV licence permits the holder to drive passenger-carrying vehicles of 9-16 passengers capacity for hire and reward. To drive larger passenger-carrying vehicles, a category D PCV licence is required.
